What is a concierge practice?

Concierge medicine offers a more personalized approach to healthcare.  Patients pay an annual fee to join the practice.  Members enjoy greater access to their physician, direct cellphone access, same or next day availability for appointments or Telehealth visits, longer appointment time slots (45 mins to an hour) and little to no waiting.

Do I still need insurance?

Yes. We are a direct pay practice, the membership fee covers all office visits and services.  There are no additional fees. Your insurance will not be billed for your primary care.  Your insurance will still be used for your prescriptions and all other medical services outside of the scope of primary care like visits to specialists, procedures and hospital visits.

What’s included with a membership?

A thorough annual exam covering eyes, feet, skin, colon, heart, lungs, neurologic issues, orthopedic issues and most importantly mental health. Dr. Costa also advises on nutrition, exercise and lifestyle modifications that may enhance overall wellness.  Unlimited appointments for no additional fees.

Is the membership fee covered by insurance?

In the overwhelming majority of cases insurance does not cover concierge membership fees.  However some flexible spending accounts (FSA’s) and health saving accounts may reimburse.  Contact your plan or human resources to learn whether that is the case.

Can Dr. Costa still treat me if I’m hospitalized?

Dr. Costa will consult, coordinate and oversee your care with the Hospitalists who are staffed at the hospital.

Is the membership fee tax deductible?

Check with your tax advisor or accountant to find out whether your membership fee is tax deductible .
